How to setup account for your MovableType blog

Post2Blog is a desktop blogging client. You can add new posts, manage existing posts in different blogs of various types including MovableType blogs

This is a quick start tutorial: how to add setup account in Post2Blog for use with existing MovableType blog

Run Post2Blog

Go to File menu and click New item in Account sub-menu:

New Account Wizard will start. Select the Existing blog and click Next

Account type

Select the MovableType blog type and click Next

Select Movable Type blog type

Now enter full link to your MovableType blog. If your MovableType blog is located in the sub-folder then don't forget to enter full link to the blog. This link should open your blog.

Then click Next to continue

The Account wizard will ask to review and confirm link to XML-RPC interface that is used to connect to MovableType blog. You shouldn't change this if you don't know what it mean

Now enter the login/username you use to login into your MovableType account and click Next

IMPORTANT NOTE: users of MovableType 3.2 and higher should check this: http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/beta/2005/07/xml-rpc_and_ato.html as in MT 3.2 you should setup different password for external blogging clients for security purposes. So be sure to check use right password for your MovableType blog when Post2Blog will ask you to enter password (not required in wizard)

Change connection proxy settings if needed. If you don't know what it mean then don't change anything.

Next page is used to setup how to upload images and files used in your post to the server. In most cases you can use uploading via blog option:

There is an alternative file uploading method: FTP uploading. Check how to setup FTP uploading settings for account topic for more information.

Click Next to continue account setup

Enter a title for the new account. This title will be used to identify account in the list of accounts. Click Next to finish wizard

Now click Finished to close the wizard

The post editor window will appear and the new account will be automatically selected in the list of available accounts:

To make a new post just compose the new post and click Post As Draft or Post And Publish 

or click Most Recent Post to edit most recent post in the blog.
